Short answer
An online manufacturing platform lets you upload a CAD file, get a price, order custom parts and follow production in one place. Before comparing prices, check who the seller and your contract party is, where parts are made and shipped from, who sees your files, whether every order is inspected before shipping, how documents are ordered, how the price is set, what happens with defects and how payment is secured. Uretyco, based in Gebze/Kocaeli, is an online manufacturing platform for customers in Türkiye; the table below also shows how Uretyco handles each question.
The checklist at a glance
| Question | Why it matters | How Uretyco handles it |
|---|---|---|
| Who is the seller and my contract party? | Claims for delays and defects go to the seller; on a marketplace, that may be each individual manufacturer. | Uretyco (URETYCO TEKNOLOJİ A.Ş., Gebze/Kocaeli) is the seller. You pay Uretyco; manufacturing partners have no contract with you. |
| Where are parts made and shipped from? | It affects lead time, customs, document language and who checks the parts. | Manufacturing partners in Türkiye produce the parts and send them to Uretyco, which ships them to you. Uretyco serves customers in Türkiye. |
| Who sees my files and my identity? | Designs are trade secrets, and quoting often means several manufacturers see a file. | Partners see production data only, via short-lived links and under the Uretyco NDA. They never see your name, company, contact details, address or the price you paid. |
| Is every order inspected before shipping? | Without inspection, you are the first to find defects. | Yes. Partners upload production proof, and Uretyco inspects every order before shipping, visually and with a sample check of critical dimensions. |
| How do I get certificates and reports? | Documents must be planned before production; many cannot be produced afterwards. | Optional and priced at quote. Measurement, CMM and FAIR reports are selected under ‘Inspection’ for CNC and sheet metal; material certificates, CoC and weld inspection are requested in the requirements field or part note. |
| What if I need a certified manufacturer? | What counts is whether the workshop that makes your part holds the required certificate. | If you need a certified manufacturer (for example ISO 9001, AS9100, ISO 13485 or IATF 16949), say so in the request. Before order confirmation, Uretyco confirms whether a suitable partner can be assigned; if none can be assigned, no order is placed. |
| How is the price set? | Instant prices are convenient, but you need to know what can still change. | Supported files and processes are priced on screen; special requirements are reviewed, and extra charges need your approval before production. |
| Which processes are covered? | One supplier for prototype and series avoids re-qualifying parts. | CNC machining, 3D printing, sheet metal and laser cutting, silicone and injection molding, die casting and surface finishing. |
| What if a part is defective or I want to cancel? | Custom parts are excluded from withdrawal, so cancellation and defect rules matter. | Free per-part cancellation before a manufacturer is assigned, documented costs after that. Justified defect claims are resolved at Uretyco's cost. |
| How is payment secured, and in which language do I work? | Card data and binding documents need a trustworthy setup. | Card payment through iyzico; Uretyco never stores the full card number or CVC. The platform works in Turkish, English and German; the Turkish legal text is binding. |
Seller, contract and production site
Read the pre-information form and the distance sales agreement before you pay. In Türkiye they must name the seller with trade name, MERSİS number, address and contact details, and state the total price including taxes, delivery costs and the delivery date. If a platform only connects you with a manufacturer, that manufacturer is usually your seller. Also ask who ships the parts: a platform that receives and inspects parts before shipping takes responsibility for that check.
Confidentiality: what manufacturers see
Ask which data manufacturers receive and what happens to files at manufacturers that are not selected. On Uretyco, a limited number of partners matched by process, material and capacity may view the files to quote; all are bound by the Uretyco NDA, and those not selected must delete the files. Messaging runs through Uretyco and blocks sharing phone numbers or email addresses. Note that file names, part notes and CAD metadata travel with the file.
Quality control, documents and certificates
Ask what the standard inspection covers, which documents you can order and when they must be requested. Separate the platform from the manufacturer: ISO 2768 and similar standards are tolerance references, not certificates, and a quality-management certificate only matters if the company making your part holds it. A reliable platform tells you before order confirmation if a required document or a certified manufacturer is not available.
Price transparency: instant and reviewed quotes
| Aspect | Instant quote | Reviewed quote |
|---|---|---|
| How it is made | Calculated from your file and selections | Prepared or confirmed after a person checks the requirements |
| Best for | Standard materials, processes and tolerances | Documents, special materials, tight tolerances, unusual sizes |
| Speed | Immediate | Longer, depending on the review |
| What to check | Whether taxes, shipping and documents are included, and what can change the price | Whether the reviewed price is fixed before production and needs your approval |
Cancellation, defects and your rights
Parts made to your own files are custom-made goods: consumers have no right of withdrawal for them, in Türkiye (Distance Contracts Regulation, Art. 15(1)(b)) or in the EU (Directive 2011/83/EU, Art. 16(c)). Defect rights remain in full: under Turkish law, consumers can choose free repair, replacement, a price reduction or withdrawal from the contract within the two-year limitation period from delivery, while business buyers must inspect the goods and report defects in time. Check whether you can cancel before production starts, who pays return shipping for a justified claim and how refunds are paid. On Uretyco, refunds go to the original payment method, in one payment and at no cost to you.
How to test a platform before an important order
- 1Read the legal pages
Find the seller's trade name and address, the sales terms and the returns and defect policy.
- 2Upload a non-sensitive part
See which processes are offered, whether a price appears and what it includes.
- 3Ask about a document you will need
For example a material certificate: note how and when it must be requested.
- 4Check the delivery date rules
Is the date shown binding, and what happens if it cannot be met?
- 5Start with a small order
Inspect the parts on arrival and see how easily a request can be opened.
No named legal entity behind the platform; a manufacturer asking you to pay or communicate directly; ‘certified’ claims that do not say who holds the certificate; no written defect process; prices that change after production without your approval.
Frequently asked questions
What is an online manufacturing platform?
A web service where you upload a CAD file, choose process, material and quantity, get a price and order custom parts made by manufacturing companies. Some platforms are the seller themselves; others are marketplaces that connect you with independent manufacturers. For orders placed on Uretyco, Uretyco is the seller.
Which online manufacturing platforms operate in Türkiye?
Several platforms and manufacturers in Türkiye offer online quoting, and the checklist above helps you compare them. Uretyco is one of them: a platform based in Gebze/Kocaeli for CNC machining, 3D printing, sheet metal, molding, casting and finishing, with production by manufacturing partners in Türkiye and Uretyco quality control on every order.
Is an instant quote binding?
Check the platform's terms. On Uretyco, the on-screen price is most reliable when the file is complete and the requirements are standard. If a technical review reveals a different scope (for example requested documents), the price can change; any extra charge needs your approval before production.
Can I return a custom part I no longer need?
Usually not, because goods made to your specifications are excluded from the right of withdrawal. On Uretyco you can cancel a part free of charge before a manufacturer is assigned; after that, documented costs are deducted. After delivery, only defect, missing-item or damage requests apply.
Do I need a platform with ISO 9001?
What matters is whether the company that makes your part meets your requirements, so state any certificate requirement before ordering. Before order confirmation, Uretyco confirms whether a partner holding the required certificate can be assigned; otherwise, no order is placed.
Can I use Uretyco from outside Türkiye?
Uretyco serves customers in Türkiye: parts are produced by manufacturing partners in Türkiye and shipped by Uretyco. The platform can be used in Turkish, English and German.
